Westhoughton-based racer Tony Lynch has his sights firmly set on fighting for the 2011 Swift Sport Rallycross Championship title after launching his new-look Suzuki Swift at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham.
Lynch finished second to Dave Bellerby in the series last year and now goes into the new season keen to add to the numerous championships he already has to his name.
A new sponsorship deal with Lucas Oils will see Tony’s Team Geriatric-run Suzuki Swift take on a dramatic new look for 2011, with the car having made its first public appearance on the opening day of the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
With the Suzuki having undergone plenty of work over the off-season, Tony heads into 2011 in confident mood after an impressive first year at the wheel of the Suzuki in 2010.
“Last season, everything came together at the last minute, so we did a fantastic job to end the season second in the championship,” he said. “The boys have worked hard on the car over the winter and it is fantastic to be here in January and know that everything is in place for the year ahead.
“No matter how hard we work on the car, we wouldn’t be preparing for the new season without the support of our sponsors and it is just reward for the boys that Lucas Oils have increased their involvement for 2011, and my aim will be to do them and the remainder of my loyal sponsors proud in the season ahead.
“With a year of experience in the Suzuki, I’m going into the new season full of confidence and I can’t wait for the first round to take place. Second was a good result last year, but this time, my only aim is to clinch the championship!”
Alongside extensive backing from Lucas Oils, Tony can also count on backing from Pemberton Tyres, Signtec, Procare, Delmo Salvage, Rye Motors, Appollon Music, Enfield Street Bakery and Bloor Homes for the year ahead.
“It’s great to see Tony get the backing of a major sponsor after his performance last year,” Pemberton Tyres boss Alan Bott said. “It is well deserved and we look forward to seeing him go from strength-to-strength during the year ahead.”
The opening round of the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship takes place at Lydden Hill on 26/27 March.
